Privacy Policy
Last updated 18 October 2026
Kirx Studios (“we”, “us”) is a video and photo content studio based in Christchurch, New Zealand. This policy explains what personal information we collect through kirxstudios.co.nz, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry through our contact form, we collect:
- your name, email address, phone number and business name or website
- the services you're interested in, your indicative budget and timing
- anything else you choose to tell us in the message field
If you email us directly, we collect whatever you include in that email. If you become a client, we also hold the details needed to run the work, such as contact details, invoicing details and project notes.
When you visit the site, our hosting provider automatically records standard technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. We use this only to keep the site running and secure.
Cookies and tracking
This site doesn't use analytics, advertising pixels or tracking cookies. Our fonts load from Google Fonts and rsms.me, which means those services receive your IP address when the page loads. The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam bots; it checks your browser when you reach the last step of the form and doesn't set tracking cookies. If we add analytics or advertising tools in future, we'll update this policy first.
How we use it
We use your information to:
- reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote or proposal
- deliver, schedule and invoice work if you become a client
- keep basic records of our business dealings
- keep the site secure and filter spam
We won't add you to a marketing list without asking, and we never sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run the site and our business. These include our website host (Vercel), the tools that receive and store form enquiries (such as our email, form-handling and customer-management software) and our accounting software. They process information on our behalf and only for the purposes above.
Some of these providers store data outside New Zealand, including in the United States and Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected in a way that is comparable to the Privacy Act 2020.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Client content
When we film or photograph at a client's business, people may appear in the footage. Clients are responsible for letting their staff and customers know when filming is taking place, and we take reasonable care to avoid capturing people who haven't agreed to be filmed. If you appear in our work and want it reviewed, contact us at kirxstudios@gmail.com.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for up to two years so we can follow up and refer back to past conversations. Client records are kept for as long as we work together and then for seven years to meet tax and accounting obligations. After that, we delete or anonymise them.
Keeping it safe
We protect your information with reasonable security measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls on our accounts, and limiting access to people who need it. If a privacy breach causes or is likely to cause serious harm, we'll notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. You can also ask us to delete it where we no longer need to keep it. Email kirxstudios@gmail.com and we'll respond within 20 working days.
If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, please talk to us first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
